Ms. Regina Colston has been actively involved in faculty governance and leadership for over 20 years. She has collaborated with The Alabama Education Association (AEA) and the Alabama Legislature to secure and codify a rare ex-officio seat on the Board of Trustees of Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. To whit she was invited to a meeting of the Faculty Senate Presidents and the American Association of University Professors at Howard University in 2001 (please verify).
Ms. Colston received her M.A.; B.A. Freedom Forum; Poynter Institute for Media Studies and Scripps-Howard Fellowships.
She has presented paper on NAFTA for the Council for the United States and Italy’s Young Leaders Conference in November 1993 in Rome, Italy.
She presented a paper using a model to explain how Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University secured a rare seat on its Board of Trustees hosted by Howard University and the Association of University Professors with faculty senate presidents from the Historically Black Universities and Colleges (HBCUs) of the United States of America.
Colston has also studied the media of the post-apartheid nation of the Republic of South Africa as part of a one person “People to People” delegation which included television, radio and print.
Invited to attend the International Radio and Television Society in New York on three occasions. Along with a faculty team won the prestigious Coltrin Award for best case study on the future of media successfully passed a New Business Item at the National Education Association requesting a summit be held on the net epoch of Diversity in Higher Education in the USA.
As president of the AAMU-Education Association on two occasions Colston has led successful initiatives through consultation/collaboration with AEA, legislative leaders and AAMU administrators and the Board of trustees.
Colston believes that each individual should play a role in developing their internal and external environments so that the individual thrives in one’s community, state, nation and the world and thus advance each constituency for the next epoch of mankind in the 21st Century.
